Fellow Canadian artists! It’s more important than ever right now to support local and buy Canadian! 🇨🇦

I’m actively looking for Canadian alternatives to my art supplies that are currently made in the US. I’ll share what I find here! 🎨

Do you have any favourite Canada-made paper, sketchbooks, or other art supplies? Let me know in the replies and I’ll boost!

I was surprised by this page from Blitz's The Big Book of Cartooning (1998). I was under the impression that all parallel lines in a scene converge to the same vanishing point. Should objects closer to the viewer get more narrowly-spaced vanishing points (and hence more distortion)? Is this realistic perspective or a cartooning trick?

So for those of you still trying to learn fundamentals, or just want to brush up on your illustration/cartooning skills, definitely check out the Famous Artist Cartoon Course textbook, available to download for free here:

SO much good stuff! The clothing folds chapter is particularly useful, but there's a lot more besides that. Do check it out! ✍️

(I should also warn that because this is an older resource it does contain problematic and racist imagery and caricatures. Take care of yourselves!)
