I've been loving watching the changing light on these buildings as the suns position changes from day to day. It can make for some very dramatic light, perfect for #MonochromeMonday images!

Sunrise and sunset are getting further apart and starting to rise and set further north too, greatly changing the angle and times that these buildings get hit with direct light.

Almost completely #MonochromeMonday except for a few sprouts on these curvy twigs.

Against a flat light gray overcast sky background, leafless branches and twigs go from thick on one side of the image to very thin on the other.
All of the branches and twigs are dark brown to black in silhouette, and very curly. The lines of the twigs squiggle and criss cross into bundles of twisting shapes and wiggly tendrils.

The image appears almost black and white, except there are a few tiny green leaf sprouts on some of the twigs.

Ignatius founded the order of the Society of Jesus — the Jesuits — to which I (sometimes unwillingly) feel a connection, since I attended a Jesuit school for many years of my childhood. I’m no longer religious, for many reasons, but I still wrestle with that upbringing and try to untangle the good from the bad.

Pope Francis, who passed away this morning, was the first Jesuit to be elected to the position. He wasn’t perfect by any means, and the Church he led continues to be a VERY problematic institution, but I appreciated his gestures towards inclusivity (insufficient though they were) and his speaking up for climate justice, for uplifting the poor, and for ending the genocide in Gaza. I hope his successor continues further down that path.

Another Cradle Mountain shot for the #MountainMonday and #MonochromeMonday together. Sorry, that's a lot of Cradle but can it really be too many..?
Anyway, I liked this one for the simplicity and the mist layer making this image.

Cradle Mountain in black and white. The mountains are dark and silhouetted against a brighter clear sky. The Dove Lake has some mist and it swirls in front of the mountains in the middle. The reflection is almost perfect.
