This easterly wind
Brings a winter's edge
To the silver morning.
I'm lost for a while
In tender memory
And there's beautiful music
Playing in my head
The lovely hare is dead
I hope he runs now
in some other field
Leaping for joy with his lover
There's glory
Shining down in silver rays
Shining down on me
From a wintery sun
I wonder does the Curlew know
What her music
Does to me?
Skylarks sing the daffodils awake
Their golden light
Carries me home.

Full time black disabled student trying to survive my major with outside learning in poetry/fiction, puppetry, and stop motion.

I'm aiming for $100/month in support (books, travel, payment plans for classes). You can check out my monthly (sometimes more) newsletter to see what I'm up to and find alternative ways to support me all in my Ko-Fi bio!

Inspired by the timeless words of authors Kahlil Gibran and Alphonse de Lamartine, "After the Fires of Day" is a hymn to life, the emotion of the moment, and our connection to nature. Every haiku in Cendrine Marrouat's collection is sure to stay with you for a very long time...

“Write an ode to misfits. A poem of praise for those who don’t belong here or there. A lyric ballad for the children of nowhere. Employ the interjection Oh at some point in the poem. Remember it can be used to capture their joy or your pain.” texasobserver.org/poetry-promp

All along the waterfront are 23 quotes from writers of all types, poets, novelists, and playwrights, placed on contemporary concrete plaques or inlaid metal text on wooden 'benchmarks'.

My favourite is:
"It’s true you can’t live here by chance,
you have to do and be, not simply watch or even describe. This is the city of action, the world headquarters of the verb"

This is not that.
