This easterly wind
Brings a winter's edge
To the silver morning.
I'm lost for a while
In tender memory
And there's beautiful music
Playing in my head
The lovely hare is dead
I hope he runs now
in some other field
Leaping for joy with his lover
There's glory
Shining down in silver rays
Shining down on me
From a wintery sun
I wonder does the Curlew know
What her music
Does to me?
Skylarks sing the daffodils awake
Their golden light
Carries me home.

You are tired, by e.e. cummings
You are tired,
(I think)
Of the always puzzle of living and doing;
And so am I.

It’s a restless hungry feeling
That don’t mean no one no good
When ev’rything I’m a-sayin’
You can say it just as good.

Inspired by the timeless words of authors Kahlil Gibran and Alphonse de Lamartine, "After the Fires of Day" is a hymn to life, the emotion of the moment, and our connection to nature. Every haiku in Cendrine Marrouat's collection is sure to stay with you for a very long time...

Facing the opposite wall
my precious love has graciously turned to show me the serene landscape beneath her sun blonde hair

The air
Still smells
Of honeysuckle
Despite the
Decay
In my
Head.
Vögel sind für mich der Inbegriff von Freiheit. Irgendwie setzte sich heute Abend ein Zeisig in meinen Kopf, um den herum ich dann ein kleines Gedicht gestrickt habe - ein typisches Freitagnachtgedicht.

With this
Swarm of
Atoms,
What odds
That we’ve
Come from
The same
Doomed
Star?
Refusal
The voice, that tells me,
"No.
You are not...
good enough,
wanted,
capable,
loved,
interesting,
undeceived..."
and so many
other things.
It is this, only this,
that angers me,
pains me;
that makes me
turn away, from
all that is offered,
and makes me bleed,
alone.

Insecure
Please, do not doubt me,
though I may howl my pain, as
a wolf, to the stars.

“Write an ode to misfits. A poem of praise for those who don’t belong here or there. A lyric ballad for the children of nowhere. Employ the interjection Oh at some point in the poem. Remember it can be used to capture their joy or your pain.” https://www.texasobserver.org/poetry-prompts-for-detained-children/
All along the waterfront are 23 quotes from writers of all types, poets, novelists, and playwrights, placed on contemporary concrete plaques or inlaid metal text on wooden 'benchmarks'.
My favourite is:
"It’s true you can’t live here by chance,
you have to do and be, not simply watch or even describe. This is the city of action, the world headquarters of the verb"
This is not that.
Shipwreck
My heart, once so proud,
was wrecked on a moonlit shore,
and is no more mine;
it was torn on rocks of time,
and claimed by tides of desire.
