"Lovely Day" is a song by American #soul and #RAndB singer #BillWithers. Written by Withers and #SkipScarborough, it was released on December 21, 1977, and appears on Withers's sixth album, #Menagerie (1977). Withers holds a sustained note towards the end which, at 18 seconds, is one of the longest ever recorded on an American pop song. The song was listed at No. 402 on #RollingStone's "Top 500 Best Songs of All Time" in 2021.

15 years ago today, this album by the magnificent Sharon Jones was released, mastered by yours truly directly off of 1/4" 15ips 2-track analog tape reels at the original Total Sonic Media studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. I will always be grateful to the fine folks at Daptone Records for choosing to work with me for a good number of their projects then. Rest In Power Ms. Jones & thank you for the music!

With a soul-based meditation practice, where you use your own thoughts to create a spiritual induction, you can have the raw peace of the stillness of your soul *at any time you want*!
"I really wanted a decent job, I really needed some scratch
(I heard people talking about a dream, now, a dream that I couldn't catch)
I really wanted to be somebody and all I had was a match
Couldn't get oil from Rockefeller's wells
Couldn't get diamonds from the mine
If I can't enjoy the American dream, won't be water but fire next time
So I said
Burn baby burn
Burn baby burn
Nowhere to be, and-a no one to see
I said-a nowhere to turn
Burn baby burn"

Such a fantastic album.
(I didn't realize until I read some notes about it that some great songriters contributed songs -- Dylan, Waits, Van Morrison, Costello, Lowe, Brian Wilson...)
