"The Graf Zeppelin is a ship with a soul. You have only to fly in it to know that it's a living, vibrant, sensitive and magnificent thing."
– British journalist Lady Grace Drummond-Hay

Graf Zeppelin did a world tour in 1929, flying over parts of the world until then unseen. In 1930 it did an even more daring flight, when it swooped by #Bergen.

After the Hindenburg accident in 1937, Graf Zeppelin was quickly put out of commission, and turned into a museum ship. This post was inspired by an article in NRK today, where some of these images were featured.

Hieronymus Scholeus drew a view of #Bergen in 1581, creating the world's oldest (known) depiction of the city, and the first of a Norwegian city at all.

There was uncertainty whether the artist had ever actually been in Bergen, due to odd inconsistencies such as the palisade fence around the city which has never been there, but letters from the client to the king states the artist actually came here. The working theory is that #Scholeus drew it from a number of sketches after having left the city, and added a few details in post.

Collected with a large number of other copper engravings of cities, this image was in the German-published series "Civitates Orbis Terrarum" (Cities of the world).

"Bussard",

taken 2019/04/16 w/ Agfa Optima 200sensor, heavy overexposed by damaged selene cell of its light meter. Expired Agfa APX100 35mm film, semistand developed in Fomadon LQN.

i decided to re-scan this old roll and to now edit it for printing small series of postcards. This picture:

Scanned on #EpsonV370photo w/ #VueScanPro on #OpenSUSE Tumbleweed Linux. Just a bit toned by hand (used the wonderful #GIMP 3.0 ), no further editing or manipulation.

Den Nationale Scene (The National Stage), likely early 1920s.

The theatre was opened in 1909, and its premiere show was Erasmus Montanus, a satire on the meeting between educated pompous Danish elites and rural Norwegian farmers by Ludvig Holberg.

The entrance and foyer was bombed during the war, but rebuilt temporarily, before getting refurbished in 2001.
