Steve Wetherill<p>ZOMG!! Found the 2 unused Amstrad 40056 ULAs for the Speccy 128 Toastrack! I think I’ll throw one of these in the Just Speccy 128K clone and (hopefully) update the eBay listing as tested/working (it’s missing the ULA at the moment). <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/golddust" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>golddust</span></a> <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/rare" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rare</span></a> <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/spectrum128" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>spectrum128</span></a> <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/amstrad" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>amstrad</span></a> <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/ula" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ula</span></a> #40056 <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/retrocomputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retrocomputing</span></a></p>

@haitchfive<p>Sinclair Research didn't bother to update the plastic mould for the bottom half of the Speccy 128. Only the holes for the 'new' plugs are different from the Spectrum+</p><p><a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/Spectrum128" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Spectrum128</span></a> <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/Speccy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Speccy</span></a> <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/ZXSpectrum" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ZXSpectrum</span></a> <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/retrocomputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retrocomputing</span></a> <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/Spectrum" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Spectrum</span></a></p>
Wintermute_BBS<p>During lunch break I clicked myself through the vast selection of <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/ZXSpectum" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ZXSpectum</span></a> games on <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/WorldOfSpectrum" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WorldOfSpectrum</span></a> and eventually got stuck with <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/Hostages" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Hostages</span></a>, a 1988 <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/Infogrames" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Infogrames</span></a> game where you lead a SWAT team to free hostages from an embassy.</p><p>I have played this game on the <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/Amiga" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Amiga</span></a>, <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/AtariST" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AtariST</span></a> and <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/Commodore64" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Commodore64</span></a> but until now didn't even know a <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/Spectrum128" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Spectrum128</span></a> version exists!</p><p>So having watched the video below, I must admit that the <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/Spectrum" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Spectrum</span></a> version - despite the known technical limitations of the machine - looks rather good. Especially the indoor, "pseudo 3D" level to me looks better than on the <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/C64" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>C64</span></a> - just my 2 cents ...</p><p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfvfFXxgtgE" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/watch?v=nfvfFXxgtg</span><span class="invisible">E</span></a></p>
