Dietrich Bonhoeffer was born on 4 February 1906 in Breslau, then Germany (now Poland). He was a German Lutheran pastor, theologian and anti-Nazi dissident. Bonhoeffer was accused of being associated with the 20 July plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler and was tried along with other accused plotters. He was hanged on 9 April 1945 as the Nazi regime was collapsing.
Thank you for remembering this courageous man. In addition, here is his most famous poem, which he wrote shortly before his execution and which became known as a wonderful poem, prayer or song.
